Jingle bells, lots of snow, presents round the tree and.......

Yes it’s that time of year again, Christmas is just around the corner and what does that mean? Yes, you got it stress!

Along with the normal everyday triggers, work, home life, family, friends there is an ever increasing pressure to provide the latest “must haves”. With mounting demands from a never ending Santa list, the perfect tree with this year’s colour co-ordinated decorations, what’s wrong with last year’s? They have only been used once! And then there is the big debate about whom to invite for the sit down dinner, the seating plan, table decorations - fresh or fake!?

How about this year we cut ourselves a bit of slack? Christmas shouldn’t be about what we want, which is better, or how much was yours! It’s about spending time with the people in your life that really matter. It’s also about coming together and remembering those that can’t be with us.

How far will all this craziness go before we start teaching our children the true meaning of Christmas, where instead of being dragged down the conveyor belt of financial debt and failed expectations we create an environment of love, trust and honesty. A place where everyone can feel at ease and quality time is shared by all.

Festive celebrations can be stress free....

·         Make a list of those you would like to spend time with. People that make you feel good, smile and laugh. Arrange “meet-ups” with them over the holiday period. Also write a list at the end of each day of things you need to do the next day. By having your list ready when you start each day it will make it easier on you. When you start each day look at your list, and start doing one task immediately. If you are organized, your whole day will go much smoother.

·        Make sure you get enough sleep; this will make you feel refreshed, relaxed and ready to go. Take a nice bubble bath, light some scented candles and turn on some soothing music. Let your mind wander and imagine you are walking along the beach in bare feet and just listening to the sounds of the waves, whilst looking at the crystal blue water gently lapping the shore. Let all your problems go for the time being and just relax.

·         When you feel yourself becoming stressed or anxious “STOP” and ask yourself “why?” and if it’s for the wrong reason move onto the next “to do”. If the people at home are getting on your nerves, try to get out of the house and take a long walk in the park, or a drive through a scenic area. Sometimes just removing yourself from a stressful situation can smooth out the edges on your nerves.

·        Take some time each day to relax and daydream. Imagine yourself relaxing in your favourite spot, whether it is walking on the beach or sitting on a park bench reading. Taking a few deep slow breaths and hold it in for 10 seconds and then slowly let it out.

·        How about spreading the load this year? share the responsibilities for creating a festive treat that everyone can be a part of. Delegate jobs and lighten the load. Preparations can be fun, let others decorate the tree, put icing on cakes or even wrap each other’s presents... this can create excitement and a joyous atmosphere, where everyone can play a role in contributing something, no matter how small, into making a long lasting, pleasurable memory, a Merry Christmas.

Stress does not have to control your life. You are the master of your own emotions and can control most occurrences of stress. By paying attention to what causes you stress or anxiety, you will know when you need to stop and take another direction. Find your inner peace by taking time to relax and let go. There are a lot of ways that you can make stress disappear and make your life more enjoyable.

Whether you like it or not, this day is coming and you can choose to be stressed or you can choose to enjoy this holiday period with lots of fun and laughter. It’s not about how much you spend this Christmas, it’s about who you spend this time with that counts.

But before I leave, please take a minute out of your day to remember those that cannot be with us today. Remembered, but never forgotten.

Merry Christmas to you all

The way people treat us are only reflections of the way that we treat ourselves

Are your relationships just how you always dreamt they would be? No Monday morning blues on the way into work, no growling at family, friends and that special person who lights up your life last thing at night and every morning when you wake. Do you have a life full of good fortune, pleasure, contentment and joy? Or am I totally off the mark?

Or is it your reality that the people in your life are driving you crazy? Is your job boring and full of stress, is the boss grumpy and never content with your hard work or effort? Are your friends disrespectful of you, do they take your feelings into consideration, do they judge and criticise you? Your family, do they take you for granted, no please or thank you.. after all the world does revolve around them.. Right!?

The thing is, have you ever truly sat down and thought about what it is that makes you truly happy, is it the job of the people around you, or is it your responsibility to bring light into your life and joy into your heart?

The way I see it is that no matter how hard you try to change someone the truth is you can't and the harder you try the worse things will get. While you are wasting hours, days, months even years for someone else to change, your self-esteem will get lower and the hope of happiness will be pushed even further from your reach. If your happiness depends solely on the actions of others, then sadly you have become a victim, you have become dis-empowered, you will have lost your direction and your self-respect. You will  become trapped when looking to others for fulfilment, when you should be looking inside yourself.

If you want better relationships with others then it is your behaviour towards them that has to change. After all how can you expect others to respect you when you don't respect yourself. It's never too late to create the life you want, only your limited beliefs stand in the way. Change the messages you are sending out to others and stop being a victim, be strong and take control of your life. People only treat us the way we allow them to treat us.

When you take the first steps in changing your behaviour you set yourself free from the shackles of any poor relationship, whether it is family, friends or work. Change your focus from others to yourself. It's when you change your focus that you will start to feel happier with your life. You become empowered and able to deal more easily with the outside world.

Remember that your life should be filled with more than just one focus. Living your life just focusing on one area is not a great way to feel fulfilled, because if anything should happen, you lose your job or your children move out for example, then your whole life becomes empty.

Spread your wings further and introduce other things into your life. How about finding time to explore new hobbies or resurrect old ones, find time to relax and pamper yourself, join a group and expand your social network and allow time for personal growth. Whatever it is you choose to do, make sure you do it 100%, no half measures. Live each moment to the full and as your confidence flourishes watch the seed of happiness begin to grow.

Be the star you are!

Being the star you are may need some life changing thought patterns and visions of yourself. Research suggests that almost 70 percent of our daily thoughts are negative and if you are having a bad day then this figure could be higher. It is possible to change these thought patterns with daily lessons.

Affirmations and visualisations are a very good way to retrain your brain into thinking and believing positive things about yourself. By creating and sending positive messages to ourselves continually it helps banish the negative beliefs we may have about ourselves. This in the long term will help to build your confidence and support positive self image.

Today is the first day of changing your life forever.

Affirmations are a great way to boost your confidence and self esteem. Imagination is a very powerful tool and its limits are only those that you put upon yourself. Become aware of your thoughts and how you talk to yourself. If you find that you are belittling yourself or saying something negative then turn it around and replace it with a positive thought. Start your affirmations with ...

  • I am ..............
  • I can .............
  • I will ..............

It doesn't matter how you change your thoughts; sing, shout, write your affirmations as much as you can, feel them, live them, be them.

Visualisations are a great way to back up your affirmations. Try finding a quiet, comfortable place where you can relax without being disturbed. Close your eyes and take deep breaths until you feel totally at ease and then see your success in motion. Picture the scene with the outcome you want to achieve. Seeing yourself being successful in ... work, at home, with your relationship or even in a creative manner. Imagine this success in whatever area it is that you want to succeed. Bring your thoughts to life, feel your confidence growing, hear the praise, see the pleasure. Add colour and sounds and experience the success you so deserve. Live your dream. When you are ready, return to the room and open your eyes.

Making decisions can sometimes be difficult and this can be due to lack of confidence in our own abilities or not being able to say yes/no in fear of upsetting another. By not being able to make decisions about your life you lose control of it. Taking control of your life is the first step to living the life you want.

Before you can make a decision you first need to know what your goal is, what do you want? The next question to ask yourself is... How?

  • Take a piece of paper and write down everything you have ever wanted to do, be, see
  • Work out how realistic each goal is
  • What are the opportunities available to you, do you need further training? if so where?
  • Next is to work out a plan of how to get what you want

Keeping a diary can be a great way to keep track of all your achievements. Take a look back though your life and recognise things that you have already been successful at. It doesn't matter if it's something like learning to ride a bike or seeing your family blossom because of your input.

Sometimes we lose confidence in our abilities and underestimate how successful we truly are. This can be because we have temporarily lost sight of what we want from life and perhaps have been fulfilling other peoples dreams. Reclaim the control of your future and draw a line under the past.

It's never too late to shine and be the star you are!

Hi people

Just wanted to post something as promised about a webinar I just attended called "Your Scents" on 21/7/2010  http://www.aromatiqueessentials.com.au with Julie Nelson

Firstly, thanks to the IT support that kept the show going, even though I lost connection I think it was down to poor signal and  not any fault of the team. So whooo hoooo!! good work Alex!

This was the first session of a 12 week course focusing on Bergamot and Basil. There were many options for these 2 key ingredients and the possibilities were endless! and to think that I just shove the basil in my sauces, what a waste!! The information was clear and concise with a little bit of arm flinging, lets see if next time she can deliver sitting on them ;) ummm

Julie gave many alternatives and explained how to use a blend and what health problems responded to the applications. I especially like the interaction between the class-mates who were a bit naughty at times, but all in the best possible taste. I think I was shocked to see Julie snorting, live on air!! but I was comforted by Alex who said if she stated to giggle then we would know it wasn't legal, poise was kept throughout!!

Julie even mentioned how her potions could help relieve flatulence, So it's offical, the lady that makes funny smells has found a cure!

I think that the webinar was very informative and packed with information and I will return next week for part 2 (if I'm allowed)

Well done Julie and fantastic job IT, catch you all next week, big hugs!

Ooooooo I'm so excited
